Steward Supervisors

You need the qualification...

The latest edition of the Green Guide – the industry standard for safety at sports grounds – recommends that all Supervisors or Senior Stewards have, or are working towards, the NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety.

...we'll help you get it

You’ll need around 110–152 hours over 3 months to gain your award, combining home study with 3 days in the classroom. That can be demanding for someone with a busy life. Don’t worry. We understand. Foresee Associates will support you every step of the way.

What our course covers

Learners must achieve a minimum of 24 credits in total, with 16 coming from the four mandatory units plus at least two optional units.

Mandatory units

  1. Prepare stewards and venues for spectator events

  2. Maintain stewarding in designated areas and deal with spectator problems and emergencies

  3. Deal with accidents and emergencies

  4. Develop productive working relationships with colleagues.

Learners will also be set questions to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the 6th edition of the Green Guide.

Optional units

  5.  Support the efficient use of resources

  6.  Manage own resources and professional development

  7.  Manage information for action

  8.  Help to manage conflict

  9.  Control and detain people at a spectator event for action by the police

 10. Work with others to improve customer service.

We help you learn your way

You’ll be in the capable hands of a friendly tutor who's walked the talk.

Our lecture team have all covered UEFA competitions as Safety Officers, and all of them hold high qualifications in managing spectator events. They're not just skilled trainers, either. You’ll find the course enjoyable and instructive, thanks to the wide store of experience they draw on.

When you're not in the classroom, you'll study at home. But you'll still be supported.

That’s because we don't believe unsupported distance learning is your best route to success. In fact, the huge drop-out rate from unsupported distance-learning courses speaks for itself.

Hate exams? It's different with us

You’ll be assessed by portfolio and by observation at an event when you are supervising stewards. Assessments are not graded but operate on a pass-or-fail basis, and successful candidates need a pass in each required unit. Foresee Associates will support you to ensure, in most cases, a pass is achievable.

Study time – in and out of the classroom

We estimate the course will take you 110–152 hours over a 3-month period, depending on which optional units you choose. This includes 3 days in the classroom.

Classes for the next few courses will be in central Glasgow. The venue is handy for public and private transport, with nearby car parks and metered street parking.
